The Iron Horse Hotel in Milwaukee

I had the pleasure of staying at the Iron Horse Hotel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It’s a gorgeous place across the street from the Harley Davidson museum, in a neighborhood that’s growing more interesting all the time.

You’ll see that my room was very nicely appointed, that there were all kinds of wonderful features, and that it’s definitely a very nice boutique establishment. There were little details like water and snacks for dogs on the main floor, and very personable staff that added to it all.

There are a few places to get a bite inside the building, but I ate at Smyth. It was astounding. The food was upscale, and priced accordingly, but definitely worth it, if you want the whole experience.

I recommend The Iron Horse Hotel if you want a non-chain, upscale kind of feeling experience.

  • I'm an atypical test user, but I thought I'd report what I found. I subscribed via the Feedburner feed, but when I did, I saw that this post included the phrase "You'll see that" - but I didn't see anything other than a thumbnail picture.

    When I clicked through to the actual post, I discovered my problem. I'm viewing this on a corporate computer, and I'm in the process of upgrading to the 10.1 beta of Flash. This process isn't complete, however (I don't have administrative rights), so any video content is completely inaccessible to me at this point.

    Is the assumption that every reader has video viewing capability a faulty assumption? (How do iPad readers handle this? I don't know.)

    Even in my computer's crippled state, however, there's enough text in the post that I can get the gist of what is going on.

    I haven't been to Milwaukee (although I can report that Racine is a nice city), so I can't really offer any comments on the content itself.

    Good luck with "Man On The Go." Hopefully you (and the rest of us) will learn something from your experience here.
  • Great points, John. Thanks for the feedback. Yes, for now, this will be video-only. It works on iPad, because I'm using YouTube, and iPad accepts for it. But you've raised some good points. I might have to do a more textual newsletter to go with it.
  • I travel to MKE fairly frequently and LOVE the Iron Horse. One of my ATF's...there's also a very authentic and cheap Mexican restaurant RIGHT across the street that will sell you margaritas TO GO so you can go back to your room and blog...what's better than that??

    I realize some of these may have been done in preparation to use either CB or Go. And for you, you are the brand so it's not that big of a deal to the audience. I can see how it might be hard to get used to with the multitude of projects you have going.
