Our friend Mitch Joel is back with some more tips for your hotel stay. Mitch travels around as much as me. There’s a lot to this video, so make sure to get out a notepad and take some notes. Mitch isn’t one to skimp on delivering great ideas.

If YOU want to submit a video to Man on the Go, here’s how. We are really having a lot of fun with the project, and you’re definitely invited to add your perspective.

Sorry late to the party, Mitch, you made me laugh with your eye rolling. Best part of the video. Look forward to seeing more of them. You are made for video because you are so expressive! And it was much funner since I've met you too!!
  • Great tips Mitch! Noted- King size bed and low level floor

You're good Mitch! Heard your podcasts but never saw you doing videos. Great job!
  • Great job Mitch! Hope to see some more from you.....great tip on quiet part of the hotel, often overlooked, until its 2am.
  • LOL - I actually learned about asking for "a quiet area" because I got tired of packing and moving into another room at 2 am ;)
  • Mitch - Great idea about asking for an extension cord. I don't travel that much, but when I do I find I'm having to move furniture. I'm sure that the hotel would actually appreciate me asking for an extension cord instead of trying to move furniture out of the way.
  • Hey Mitch - great tips! I travel frequently also (if you call 40 weeks/year frequent) and I have to give an alternative tip - get the top floor in a hotel (if it's not a high rise, or especially if it's a more budget-priced hotel). Too often, I've been able to solve the mystery of BigFoot - he is obviously in residence in the room right above me, clomping around at midnight and/or 6 am, when I'm trying to sleep... so, if you're NOT a heavy sleeper, a top floor is a better recommendation. (And I've never had to trudge the stairs in a power outage... guess I'm blessed!)
  • I would only do the top floor if there were not a lot of floors. That being said, there is little worse that BogFoot and I'm not a fan next-door-nagger either ;)
  • Great tips. Couldn't agree more about the loyalty programs, but sign up for both the hotel AND airlines. Even if you're not a frequent flyer, you can convert those miles into hotel points to use later for personal trips.
  • That was really helpful! I want to see the packing action you promised!
And you were very good, lots of info, easy to follow. Do it again!
    Thx,
    Sue
  • Coming soon. I have the folks at eBags sending me something special to really take that video to the next level... stay tuned!
  • Well done, Mitch! Excellent tips from a seasoned 'man on the go'!
  • Great tips and ideas here for the lightweight or heavy traveler! I think both Mitch and Chris have inspired me to put together a personal "tips for trips" journal. We have traveled more in Europe (Italy) than in the US and frankly I was LOL when watching this video thinking about how little we expect from Hotels abroad other than location and price! My take away on your video Mitch, the lower floor room in case of evacuation for any reason, never thought about that but will from now on.
    Safe travels

  • Maybe you should shoot a video. That would work. : )
  • Based on my overseas travel, I should probably pull together another video on how to survive the flight over and back without dying from jet-lag.
  • Look forward to reading a post that contains some advice on the "jet-lag" issue. I travel from Boston to SF often to visit our daughter ( BTW Carrie Johnson, Forrester, I think you know her ) and I've tried several different suggestions given to me by friends so far ...nothing helps!

None of the suggestions about jetlag have ever worked 100% for me either. Keeping hydrated, filled up with vitamins, and making sure you get daylight at appropriate times seems to be all I can do. A friend always takes sleeping pills but I am too paranoid to do that while flying on my own and one of us has to be concious while traveling with child!
  • As AJ Bombers noted, lots of great tips for those of us who don't travel as frequently.
  • wow, talk about a huge bunch of tips, how great Mitch, thanks so much for sharing this with us here, oh and thanks for doing the video, I must say that the video feels just like the SPOS podcasts. I immediately stored a couple of those tips away for my next trip. What a great resource site this is evolving into Chris.
